Well-maintained streets, sidewalks, parks, and public infrastructure are essential to Seaside’s quality of life and to the daily experience of everyone who lives, works, or visits here. They affect how safely children get to school, how comfortably seniors move through their neighborhoods, how easily families enjoy public spaces, and how confidently residents and visitors travel through our city. I believe Seaside must continue investing in safer intersections, improved traffic flow, accessible sidewalks, better lighting, and well-kept parks so our community remains safe, connected, and welcoming. Just as important, we must build a city that is more walkable and pedestrian-friendly while recognizing that cars remain a necessary part of daily life for many working families, seniors, and local businesses. Good planning means balancing all of these needs in a way that improves mobility, reduces risk, and protects quality of life.
That is why funding repairs and new improvements to streets and sidewalks matters so much. When infrastructure is neglected, costs only rise, safety declines, and residents feel the impact every day in ways both large and small. Investing early and consistently in maintenance, resurfacing, traffic safety, pedestrian access, stormwater systems, parks, and public facilities protects taxpayer dollars over the long term and helps prevent bigger, more expensive problems in the future. I believe Seaside should continue making these investments in a disciplined and forward-looking way so our neighborhoods remain strong, our business corridors stay active, and our residents can move through the city with greater safety, pride, and confidence. A city that takes care of its infrastructure is a city that takes care of its people.
